Management

Tim Barg 
President & Founder

Tim is an accomplished entrepreneur who has provided leadership in early stage software and technology companies for nearly 20 years.

Prior to founding ARTGEM in 2005, Tim served as Vice President of Products at ADVIZOR Solutions, a business intelligence company that develops advanced reporting and analysis software.  While at ADVIZOR, Tim led the product development, support and professional services teams in the development and launch of ADVIZOR's flagship Analyst Edition line of products that was recognized with several awards including the 2004 Intelligent Enterprise Readers Choice Award in the Data Visualization category and the 2005 DMReview Readership Merit Award.  Tim successfully managed projects for ADVIZOR strategic partners who were integrating the Analyst Edition line of products into their own product offerings.

Prior to joining ADVIZOR, Tim served as Executive Director of Product Development at Visual Insights, a Lucent new venture which was spun out to launch products into the web analytics market in 1999.  While at Visual Insights, Tim led development teams for all product offerings, including the development team that created ADVIZOR 2000, an Excel plug-in for visualizing pivot tables.  ADVIZOR 2000 was nominated by Bill Gates and selected into the Smithsonian Institution's 2000 Information Technology Innovation Collection, a permanent research collection presented by Computerworld as a lasting historical record of computing applications and innovations.  Tim is co-inventor of US Patent 6707454: Systems and methods for visualizing multi-dimensional data in spreadsheets and other data structures.

Prior to joining Visual Insights, Tim founded Barg Software, a software development firm that developed applications for enterprise software companies.

Prior to founding Barg Software, Tim led product development teams at Palindrome Corporation which was acquired by Seagate Software and Platinum Technologies which was later acquired by Computer Associates. 

Tim earned a B.S in Computer Information Systems from DeVry Institute of Technology in 1987.

Tim resides in Wheaton Illinois with his wife and 6 children.
